Hey y’all! I got a lot of engagement on my post about being productive while going to school and having a lot of obligations and responsibilities. I wanted to make a post about working full-time while being productive because working full-time and being in school are both hard and a little advice on both can always help.
Although, I have been only working full-time for a short period I think I have been pretty productive in this time. I also have a lot going on all the time. There is not one day where I don’t have something scheduled. I work full-time, I go to the gym 4 days a week, I meal plan, I cook dinner, I go to meditation once a week, I make sure to hangout with friends at least twice a week, I go on date nights once a week, I blog and much more! If you have a ton of stuff you do during the week, no matter how small, that is an amazing accomplishment. That is how you start being more productive, by first realizing you actually ARE productive or at least more productive than you give yourself credit for.
Second, if there are things you want to do for yourself, you MUST do them and find a way for them to get done. If you want to take a bath at least twice a week, prep dinner, put the kids to bed a little early and watch the monitor while you take your bath.
Third, you need at least a little sliver of self-care. This is so important because being productive also has a lot to do with how you feel about yourself. If there are things you want to work on mentally then schedule 15 minutes to talk it out with a friend, journal right before bed for 10 minutes, or take 10 minutes during your work day to practice a small amount of meditation. If you want to take better care of your skin then implement an easy, quick and fun skincare routine.
Fourth, you need to get good with time management. Time management is a huge reason why we aren’t very productive. Let’s say you want to workout, actually get ready for work but you also have to get the kids ready, fed and off to school… Seriously gauge how much time you need to workout, get ready and make breakfast. See if there is anything you can do the night before, like make lunches, prep breakfast, pick out outfits for everyone, do your hair the night before, etc. You can cut time in certain places by doing this. Also, waking up earlier to do things can help as well.
Overall, taking up what little time we have during the day to get things done is what will save us at the end of the day with being and feeling more productive. Everyone’s situation is different so only you will know what is best for you at the end of the day.
