Hey y’all! As we all may or may not know, I recently went on a business trip with the company that I work for. It was a pretty good time and I wanted to share some business trip tips with you all. If you’ve never been on a business trip before, you might need some tips on what to pack, how to dress, social things to do and to not do.
First, lets talk about what to pack! Definitely pack enough business clothes for each day you’re gone, also make sure to pack all of the necessary toiletries you’ll need, even emergency ones (tampons, tums, advil etc.). Pack a couple of business casual clothes and bring a comfortable pair of nice shoes if you’re going to be walking a lot. Make sure to bring an agenda, a notepad, a USB/hard drive the itinerary, a nice folder and your computer. Make sure you also bring business appropriate pajamas (you never know who will knock on your door at night with a work problem).
Second, how to dress all depends on the dress code of your company and the type of trip it is. It’s best to dress up rather than down but it is best to ask your managers etc. just to be sure. On the flight I would dress more laid back unless you are instructed to dress nice for the flight.
Third and last of all, when it comes to being social, make sure you keep it business-centric and professional. If you’re co-workers want to get a drink, know your limit and always stay at least one drink behind everyone else until you reach your limit. Also, make sure you don’t discuss things that are super personal. You don’t want to end up regretting the fact that you sat there and told someone your whole life story. Keep it PG, by not cursing too much and not getting involved in things that are NOT PG (ex: drugs, getting extremely drunk, hooking up with people, fighting, etc.).
Although I don’t normally dress this way, I definitely love the style and I thought it was a ton of fun dressing up! I hope you enjoyed this post and remember to subscribe for emails to be notified for when I post new content and make sure to comment down below what tips you have for a business trip!
